Lake Powell is a reservoir on the Colorado River, between the USA states of Utah and Arizona. It was created by flooding the Glen Canyon. The Colorado River carved the Glen Canyon for 5 million years, revealing a fantastic visual geological history. Different erosions of the earth can show layers of rock from over 300 million years ago. It is a place of extremes; sandstorms, flash flooding, severe thunderstorms and hail, and intense heat and freezing temperatures , making this awe inspiring landscape dangerous and extraordinary beautiful.

I was inspired by the jagged silhouette of the canyon walls, the gorgeous colors of the lake, sand, rock, and sky, the stars that shine unhindered by light pollution and reflected in the lake at night, and by my own experience while house boating in the canyon.
